Proposal

Dear Sir or Madam

The lonely time traveller.

I am writing to propose a short ten-minute film about a lonely time traveller that wants to find his true love but something terrible gets in the way, I have written the beginning, middle and end up and included a little bit about the characters im going I’m to use in this short film.

Characters;
Leo - Handsome, time traveller and very lonely.
President - bossy.
Amy - The girl he ends up meeting, pretty and lonely too.

Act 1;
Leo is very lonely and wants to meet a nice woman and settle down and have a family. His goal is to go forward in time to see if he has a family, wife or any friends.

Act 2;
Leo goes forward in time but the world has gone, he's just floating around the universe so he has to go back in time slowly to find out when the world ends and why it happens, this stops him from seeing if he has a family. He has to do what he can to save the world. He goes back in time and finds out that the world ended because the president set a bomb off in Russia but it expanded and took out the countries near Russia as well as Russia and it started another world war until no one was left on the earth and nothing was left.

Act 3;
At first the president doesn't believe him but he shows the president that he can go forward in time so he finally convinces the president not to set the bomb off and he doesn't, the world is fine and the time traveller finally meets his soon to be wife and they settle down and have a little boy.

The intended audience would be 12+ as I think 12 and above is good because people younger than 12 would not understand the concept of the story and why Leo has to save the world.

Gladiator

Gladiator. (unfinished)

Mise en scene and Sound.

Gladiator starts with a man brushing his hand through a field of wheat and the music starts off as loud but relaxing, the lighting is very bright and there is quite a few colours in the first shot and that implies happiness as the colours are bright. This could also suggest heaven with the lightness.

The next shot turns to dark and dull, and this suggests that something bad is going to happen as it changed from light to dull, this also suggests hell because of the darkness. The sound and music gets louder and more exciting when it turns dull.

You can then see a lot of men and horses charging, preparing for something and the music gets even more exciting, the setting is in a field and a forest but the field looks burnt and there are no trees or grass, just burnt floor and this implies that a battle happened there before at the same location. You can also hear all of their armour clashing and banging against each other and this suggests that they have to be protected for something.

The leader of the troops is walking through, and you can tell he is the leader as he is wearing fur and no one else is, all of his troops are just wearing armour and the leader is wearing the fur, you can also tell he is the leader as everybody bows down to him when he walks past and when he is on his horse everybody raises from the ground and stands up to tell everyone that they listen to him.

When the battle starts you can see the Barbarians have no armour on except for shields and this implies that they think they don't need it or they are unprepared for the battle as the Romans have more weapons than the barbarians and have all the armour.

The non-diegetic sounds are getting louder and so are the diegetic sounds, the screaming and roaring is getting louder as the battle begins, these sounds build up suspense and drags you into the film as if you were actually in the battle.

The romans start to throw fire and the barbarians are charging towards the romans with shields and swords, they are roaring and you can hear

HARD LOVE POSTER

Fish out of the water

Stuck up Sammy

I worked with Deanna Rickets on this.

We came up with the idea of a stuck up girl that has to work in a homeless shelter for a month to change her ways.

Sammy is stuck up, spoilt, has everything her own way and her parents cant handle it so they're sending her away to work in a homeless shelter for a month at least.

When Sammy gets to the homeless shelter she starts to realise that she gets everything she wants in life and these people get nothing.

She starts to look at her lifestyle and a homeless persons lifestyle and feels really bad, she's now looking at life in a different perspective, and changes her ways.

Now everything she gets she donates half to the homeless shelter.

The Fourth wall

The fourth wall;

An example of this is 'Friends'; in friends you never see the fourth wall because thats the audience and the cameras but you never see the characters looking at the fourth wall because that would break the rule.

If you break it and look at the fourth wall this could ruin the shots and the audience wouldn't feel as involved and neither would the people at home watching it on TV.

Camera Angles

Key Camera Angles

LS
A long shot shows from head to toe.

ES
An establishing shot is designed to establish a lot of information.

MS
A medium shot is from the waist up, it is more focused on the person it is also usually used in factual programmes like the news.

MCU
A medium close up is from your shoulders to your head, its a comfortable shot so it puts people at ease.

CU
A close up is just the face, it is used for dramas so you can see emotions and good to get involved on the show/film.

ECU
An extreme close up is good for detail but not very comfortable.

Reverse shot
This could be when two people are talking but there must be a talking space and eye contact between them, with this shot you would go back and forth with the two characters, but the camera could be over the shoulder.

Wide shot to create suspense
An example of this would be in a horror film and they would do a wide shot of the characters but the main focus would be the door on the side this would create suspense but it doesn't mean they have to act on it.
