What is a risk assessment?

A risk assessment sheet and its purposes;

A risk assessment is a sheet that you have to fill out in order to shoot. The form includes things like drugs or alcohol and if they're present or not and also the severity of something bad happening and likelihood of the bad thing happening.

The sheet is to assess the risks of things happening to the cast of the shooting and it is your responsibility to tell people about it. As the director of the film i would be responsible for letting people know about the risks and signing it to show that i have told people about it.

The sheet also asks you if you've removed the risk and if there has been agreed action taken just incase.

Shot list.

Drama piece ( shot list )

Plot- Daughter tells her mum she's pregnant.

Shot 1; A close up of the daughters hand opening the door.

Shot 2; A long shot of the mum at the end of the hallway.

Shot 3; A medium shot of the daughter looking down at the test.

Shot 4; A full shot of the daughter walking down the hallway.

Shot 5; A medium shot of the daughter with talking space.

Shot 6; A medium shot of the mum washing up oblivious to the fact that her daughter is upset.

Shot 7; A close up of the daughters face saying shes pregnant.

Shot 8; A medium shot of behind the mum and as she turns around the camera slowly zooms into her face ( to see all emotion ).

Shot 9; A close up of the daughter crying.

Shot 10; A wide shot of them both at the table, the cameras rising so its like a bird view shot of the mum comforting the daughter.

I worked with Deanna Ricketts on this.

location recces

What are location recces?

A location recce is a checklist for all of the things you need when going to a location.

These pictures include things to take,talking to people, transport/access, camera/lighting, sound, things for director and food/accommodation. In things to take you need a camera, student ID etc. In talking to people you will need to talk to people about permission and fees.

What makes a good title.

How to make a good title!

It has to be;

  • the headline of the story
  • what it is
  • not too on the nose - too specific
  • a hint of irony
  • eye-catching
  • catchy
  • relevant

The movie i was given was Twilight and i had to change the title of it. I drew a spider diagram to summarise what twilight is really about.

The new name for Twilight that i thought of is 'Meet the Cullen's' i think this is a good idea because twilight is mostly about the cullens but also about bella who is meeting the cullens, the only thing wrong with this is that there is a genre mix up as a lot of comedy films start with 'meet the' like meet the fockers etc.

Treatment

The treatment - the lonely time traveller
In my short ten-minute film a lonely time traveller wants to find his true love but something terrible gets in the way, I have written the beginning, middle and end up and included a little bit about the characters im going I’m to use in this short film.

Characters;
Leo - Handsome, time traveller and very lonely.
President - bossy.
Amy - The girl he ends up meeting, pretty and lonely too.

Act 1;
Leo is very lonely and wants to meet a nice woman and settle down and have a family. His goal is to go forward in time to see if he has a family, wife or any friends.

Act 2;
Leo goes forward in time but the world has gone, he's just floating around the universe so he has to go back in time slowly to find out when the world ends and why it happens, this stops him from seeing if he has a family. He has to do what he can to save the world. He goes back in time and finds out that the world ended because the president set a bomb off in Russia but it expanded and took out the countries near Russia as well as Russia and it started another world war until no one was left on the earth and nothing was left.

Act 3;
At first the president doesn't believe him but he shows the president that he can go forward in time so he finally convinces the president not to set the bomb off and he doesn't, the world is fine and the time traveller finally meets his soon to be wife and they settle down and have a little boy.

The intended audience would be 12+ as I think 12 and above is good because people younger than 12 would not understand the concept of the story and why Leo has to save the world.

The setting in the beginning will be at 'leos flat' but to reduce costs i will use my flat or a friends, i will try to reduce every cost by using family and friends for the cast and have them use their own clothes as costumes.
I will also borrow filming equipment from the college and film some of it at the college.
I have set days and times for characters to be at the right time and place for shooting.
For editing i have a friend that can edit the film for me so that also reduces the cost of making this film.

There will be all kinds of shots in all settings including wide shots and extreme close ups.

location drawings

The genres i would pick for these drawings would be either a horror, romance or drama.
I think they fit in well with the theme park in the background as you could have a romance and the two loved ones could go on rides together, or you could do a horror when the theme park is closed and the victim is hiding on the ghost train or something.
