Steff - and I'm Steff Preston. One of our top stories today is the increasing prices on train faces and our reporter Joe Brinkman speaks to those who are most affected.

Chris - Tragic news hit seevic College last Thursday at 4.55pm when teachers of the college rushed to the car park after noticing a car on fire, fire services were called and were there within minutes, shortly after their arrival fire fighters discovered a body inside the car which was ablaze on the campus forecourt.
Steff - Fire fighters contacted police shortly after 5pm and more than 10 police cars rushed to the scene. The body was so badly burnt that investigators were unable to provide an identification, but the body is believed to be a local man in his 40's.
Chris - Shocked students and residents in the area have been reacting to the news on twitter one of their tweets was 'RIP to whoever was in that car at Seevic, absolutely devastating'. Students and teachers at seevic paid their respects with a minute of silence the morning after.
Steff - Plain clothed officers break down the front door of a house in Pitsea after a tip off, officers found a back bed room which had been converted into a cannabis storage room with powerful lighting to help the plants grow, they discovered 32 plants which could have been worth up to £20,000.
Chris - A search of the property uncovered a machete in one of the bedrooms and the bedside table, there were also chunks of cannabis being dried out in kitchen cupboards and in the same room as children's toys.
Steff - A man and a woman were arrested at the house and while the police were collecting evidence a second man arrived in a rented van containing hydroponics equipment, which can be used for growing cannabis. The three people were all arrested but have now been released on bail until april 9th.
Chris - A local taxi driver aged 77 was ruthlessly attacked on Saturday 8th February at 11.25pm outside Sainsbury's on London Road in Southend by two men in their early twenties, the two men refused to pay the £11 fare so Kenneth Wolfe demanded it and was then badly beaten, then shockingly a third man, who is believed to be homeless, aided the two men on their heartless attack, Kenneth was left with a broken jaw, broken eye socket and missing teeth after the attack.
Steff - The attackers were white and wearing dark clothing, anyone with information about the attack can call detectives at Southend police station on 101. Thank you.
Chris - Two men were arrested after trying to allure two young teenage girls aged 15 and 16 while they were walking in Rectory Road in Pitsea on 18th February, the white van pulled up beside them and tried to persuade them to get in, the young girls contacted the police, who then searched the area and arrested two men for public order offences, they have been released on bail until march 13th.
Steff - A man is wanted by police on suspicion of aggravated burglary, Alex Stephens, aged 31 has been linked to addresses in Finchley road and Palmerston road in west cliff, as well as Jones close and Chiltern Flats in southend on sea, he is suspected of aggravated burglary at Grampian Flats on Balmoral Road, southend, on december 5th. Chris - Police would like to speak to these two women in connection with a theft at a supermarket in Basildon, these women shown on the screen failed to put all of their items through the self service checkout, they left the store without paying for these items which valued up to £80. The incident happened at 4.30pm on Monday February 10 at Asda in Pipps Hill Retail Park in Miles Gray Road.

Steff - A college student has been left paralysed on one side of his body after being stabbed with a chisel in a carpentry class at Prospects College on Southchurch Boulevard in Southend.
Chris - He remains in hospital where doctors fear it will be at least a month before they will know if the paralysis is permanent.
Steff - A 16 year old boy from Basildon appeared at Southend Magistrates' Court charged with inflicting grievous after the incident at Prospects College.
Chris - Prosecutor Lesley Chipps revealed, during the brief hearing, the extent of the boys injuries. She said 'Pieces of wood were thrown towards him and the allegations are that he picked up a chisel and stabbed the victim in the throat with that chisel, receiving very serious injuries as a result of that. It could be a month before doctors know what the implications are, but he is currently paralysed down one side of his body'.
Steff - The defendant was granted bail and ordered to appear before Southend Magistrates' Court on Thursday 13th February for a plea and case management hearing.
Chris - A student from the school next to the building, Futures Community College, was in one of her lessons when she heard about the tragedy, she said 'It was an extremely scary time in the college and school for all students and teachers, everyone was praying for the boy to be alright, I wasn't in the college at the time but some of us students do have lessons in there, everyone is still hoping the victim is okay and getting the help he needs'

Chris - Caroline Powell, from Basildon, secured her fourth medal in the Winter Paralympics on Friday morning with a silver medal in the visually impaired womens combined skiing.
Steff - Powell guided Jade Etherington to second place at Sochi as they finished just 0.63 seconds behind Russias Aleksandra Frantceva.
Chris - Southend United are still without a win in 12 games as their push for promotion has taken a massive blow, they failed to beat relegation fighters bury at home, it finished 0-0 at Full Time, in a fairly boring game, the highlight of the game came in the 82nd when Barry Corr got himself sent off and will now serve a 3 match ban.
Steff - Other local results over the weekend involved Canvey Island drawing 1-1 with fellow promotion chasers, Met Police. Billericay lost 2-0 Margate FC at home, Southends biggest rival, League One side Colchester lost 1-0 away to newly promoted side Crawley and lastly Grays suffered a heavy defeat at home to Carshalton which ended 4-1 to Carshalton.
Chris - A MAN is in hospital after being stabbed in the chest in Leigh on Monday night.The victim was assaulted in The Broadway and a woman has been arrested over the incident.
Steff - There are police cordons in place at Oakleigh Park Drive tuesday morning as police search for evidence.The man’s injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
Chris- A police spokeswoman said: “A 30-year-old woman has been arrested by police officers following an assault in The Broadway area Monday night around 9.25pm.“A man in his thirties was taken to hospital by ambulance crews with stab wounds to the chest, which are not believed to be life threatening.
Steff - She also said “We can confirm that the two people are known to each other.“There’s a scene guard in place and detectives will be searching the area and conducting house to house enquiries this morning.”
Chris - During February this year, Billy Higgins, six years old from Thundersley, wrote a message, and cast it out to sea in a bottle. The message included his address, and asked that whoever may find it could write back to him.
Steff - Expecting disappointment, Billy had a great surprise when a postcard from Iceland arrived. The postcard read that it was from the 'magical elves', and said that a whale from the ocean had given them the message whilst they were watching the Northern Lights.
Chris - Mum, Kelly Higgins, said; “It really does restore your faith in human kind when there is so much rubbish going on in the world.”
